[edit]
Thread renamed from "The Wikipedia Thread" to "The Publicity Thread"
[Edit] Not only do we need an actual Wiki in addition to the RC and RC2 Wiki Page edits, but also some publicity in PC magazines (and especially Linux ones, as hardly any Linux releases have a decent engine to begin with).
I have already sent emails to both editors at NAG South Africa and PCFORMAT South Africa, and will also be targeting Local Developer based magazines, 3D art magazines and also a local Linux magazine if these fail.
All usable Wiki sites should be listed here, including Game Wiki sites, Sourceforge, and any site that google gives us in releation to any Rollcage Game.
With my account on deviantART I will attampt to gain additional 3D artists there.
Also: NEEDS:
PlanetRollcage must be removed from Wikipedia, the site no longer exists. I will look into seeing if it is possible to buy the old PlanetRollcage domain from whoever owns it ATM.
Gamespot should be hinted...
Opensource Games page in Wikipedia should have RollcageX added.

So, ill start us off with a draft... Its isnt very organized, but edit and rewrite from here: RollcageX, or RCX is a community driven opensource development project that aims to continue the "Rollcage" and "Rollcage Stage 2" game universe. RollcageX is described as a more realistic representation of the Rollcage game, featuring more realistically designed cars and realistic physics. The game intends to incorporate all the game modes from Rollcage and Rollcage 2, with some added modes and tracks, such as Sandbox environments, stunt tracks, GP style tracks.
RCX also incorporates the Stage to car naming system, assigning cars to both existing Rollcage 2 team names such as Unity, Vostok etc.., as well as adding additional teams specifies by the current official set of developers.
The additional team names by the devs are...
Nemesis, by Soul Slinger (Mat) with the Venom as the team's first car Matrox (industries) by Mac with the Airstorm as the team's first car Racetek by Codie Morgan with no cars yet.
The current official dev team, based on project output are (Forum usernames): - "Me AKA John", projects founder - "Soul Slinger", lead programmer - "Mac" , programming, hacks, research, extensive testing. - "CodieMorgan (XEWEASEL), lead 3D artist
There are currently 3 useable cars in RCX, the "SCUD", "Airstorm" and the "Venom", unter the teams Vostok, Matrox and Venom. Two additional work in progress cars are team Unity's "Genesis Mk3" represented as a descendant of Rollcage 2's Unity Genesis car, and a 5Th car with no name or team yet. There are also 8 different rim/spoke designs that can be fitted on the cars.

Sounds like a plan! we of course should use a link to this site in the referance. and maybe in the article itself and it should boost r popularity. therefore more members could be helping out/supporting it

I've also got a Youtube channel, so I'm more than happy to upload videos and demos and stuff as we go along.
(I've been meaning to upload videos of the new sandboxes / cars for a while now. :/ I'm stupid.)

I sent an email to PCFormat South Africa in an attempt to get some coverage. We need more coders
[EDIT] Response from NAG South Africa (New Age Gaming):
"Dont you guys need permission to use the Rollcage name from Psygnosis?"
Me: (explained the Sony Liverpool thing to them)
Me to goRCX: We must find a way to contact Sony Liverpool
Response from NAG: We can put the RollcageX info as a small mention in the Letter's section of the magazine, with one of the car pictures. And your long text cut down a bit
Me: That will work fine.

cool :B
The thing is, the RollCage name is trademarked, but as far as we're aware RollCageX, and RCX aren't.
Slinger will have to explain it further as I can't x.x

heh.
The reason why Slinger hasn't bothered with contacting Sony Liverpool for copyright notices is because a) Jon is the project leader (he should do it lol) and b) we're currently going by the name of RCX, which can really mean pretty much anything and also isn't copyrighted.
It would be (honestly) really nice if Sony Liverpool do actually give the project the go-ahead to use the copyright (providing we basically spam "RollCage is a trademark of Sony Liverpool bla bla bla) everywhere.
Personally, I'm praying that if/when Jon does talk to them, we get a few of the old Rollcage coders coming across to help out, because finetuning this damn physics engine is a major pain in the butt. xD
That's my opinion, anyway. We really do need some more coders. Whilst Slinger's work isn't anything close to bad, getting more experienced hands on the project will definitely help speed up updates, features and physics fixing. :]
You need to get some of those guys across here.

Hey Everyone , Sorry I have been away for a while, been in and out of hospital AGAIN!!! Cant wait to finally get it all out the way, so I can put some more time on the site / project. I have been meaning to setup a wiki so that it is a bit easier to keep things upto date. Hopefully I will have it up and running by the end of the week. w00p w00p!!! Then we can keep upto date with releases and have it hosted on this hosting.

@Jon: Welcome back! (I'm always inactive when you post, but I hope you're still reading this) Having the last versions on sf wouldn't be a bad idea About the trademark, I'm no expert on it either, but I'm just assuming Sony will let us know if they don't like it, before starting to sue us... (there are many rollcage<foobar> things out there, this just happens to be a game). We should really work on a wikipedia page (since that's where most people will look when first hearing about the project), and as soon as the game gets better rendering, it might be possible to get some (online?) company to print stickers with screenshots, and paste them all over the place... As for more coders: I have many ideas already planed (menus, realtime video animation for intros/outros, scripting, etc...), but too little time to code (I never code this time of the year, but it's only now that the project is getting popular that it's showing ). Also, after all the time I've put into the code (many lines of my soul in it ), I have this protective feeling about it (don't touch my child! ), but as long as I have control over what's changed and added to it, it should be fine... So if more coders joins the projects, I wouldn't mind coordinating the development (what should be coded and how).

BUMPED! Don't know by how much...just found it and though it was a funky thread. Maybe sticky worthy?
Joined facebook group. Also just as a test can someone click on my profile and tell me what they see? Want to make sure it is all private after all the latest updates.
I would have said having separate page for RCX at such an early stage was a bad idea but that was when I thought rollcage I and II were on one page. Still should probably wait for a while before that. As it is open source does that mean you should explain everything about how you made the game?
Is there an 'official' logo or something I can use as a signature on forums? I only go on my uni ones so you might be lucky and get some of the more enthusiastic students joining. Also possibility of luring in lecturers and masters students...
On the topic of universities getting a few interested could be good. Quite a few universities nowadays have computer games creation and art as major courses.
